Coffin Accreditation

No matter what you’re buying, its always reassuring to know that it is good quality and is suitable for its use (and not a dodgy knockoff!).

The last thing anyone wants at a funeral is the coffin being faulty. But it’s difficult to know what to trust when it’s not a product you buy very often.

Fortunately there are professional industry bodies that test coffins to make sure they’re suitable for burial and cremation. They put the coffins through various tests to check whether they are suitable for the weights quoted and for use in cremation (among other tests).

You can have peace of mind knowing that all the coffins we sell are accredited by independent industry bodies.

Specific details on the accreditation of the coffins is provided below.

Cardboard Coffin Accreditation

The cardboard coffins sold by us are accredited by the Funeral Furnishing Manufacturers Association (FFMA). They are the main independent body that ensures products used in funerals are manufactured to a high standard.

The Specifics

The cardboard coffins that we sell are manufactured by Greenfield Coffins, a company that generally sell to the trade (Funeral Directors) in bulk, not the public.

This is their profile on the FFMA’s website. This profile confirms that the cardboard coffins are approved for use as it has passed the FFMA’s test protocols.

When approved by the FFMA, the certified coffins can be stamped to evidence the accreditation. All of the coffins we sell will have this stamp. The picture below shows the stamp on the Manila cardboard coffin:

As you can see, the stamp includes a reference to the Company ID and Product ID of the manufacturer. For reference, these numbers are included on Greenfield Coffin’s FFMA website listing (mentioned above).

The manila coffin was the style that was tested, however this accreditation covers the other styles (white, woodgrain), the picture, and colour cardboard coffins. This is confirmed in their listing as it states:

Can be printed in any design or wood grain effect or any colour of your choice.

Bamboo & Wicker Coffin Accreditation

The bamboo and wicker coffins that we sell are also accredited by the Coffin, Casket and Shroud Association (CCSA).

The Specifics

The bamboo and wicker coffins we sell are manufactured by Ecoffins, a company that generally sell to the trade (Funeral Directors), not the public.

You will find confirmation that they are members of the CCSA by visiting this page. By being a member, the company’s coffins have been tested and passed for use in cremation.

Information on how the CCSA test coffins is available here.

The coffins we sell are included on the list of approved coffins on this page. For clarity, the coffins we sell and their respective CCSA reference number are:

When approved by the CCSA, the certified coffins can be stamped to evidence the accreditation. All of the coffins we sell will have this stamp.

What else?

Whilst not strictly accreditation, we’re proud to have good reviews on various independent websites.

We mention this because it’s always reassuring to know that someone before you has bought a product and liked it enough to take the time to leave a review.

We have:

  • 5/5 stars (and 100% excellent feedback) on TrustPilot:
  • And 100% positive feedback on Ebay:

These are all reviews from previous customers who needed a coffin and wanted to save money. They bought a coffin and it was exactly what was required.
